Technology advisors often help you tactically with single point issues. At Cronk Advisory we look at the bigger interconnected picture and often ask the difficult yet constructive questions. Such as whether something is really the right thing to do (weighing up tactical vs strategic), what the risks and opportunities are and the costs beyond the immediate project budget.
That is not idealism. It is holistic architecture. Systems that ignore their wider context do not serve their organisations long term, and build up architectural, environmental and technical debt that can lead to cost increases and lack of agility if not effectively navigated.
Much of this thinking is formalised in our Pragmatic Ecosystems methodology: a structured way of approaching technology and business architecture as interconnected systems: human, organisational, and natural. Finding changes that are both pragmatic and win, win, win: across people, planet and profitability. We plan to publish further details on Pragmatic Ecosystems and Dynamic Ecosystem Architecture later this year.

Oliver is the founder of Cronk Advisory. He has held CTO / Technology Director, Chief, Enterprise and Technology Architect and Engineering positions across energy, financial services, central and regional government, and professional services. Over 25 years as a practitioner and a leader.
He created the Architect Tomorrow community in 2019, co-developed the open-source Tech Carbon Standard, and is a regular speaker internationally on architecture, emerging technology, and sustainability.
He brings breadth and buy/sell-side experience to every engagement, alongside a network of specialists and partners who join where the work calls for it.
